For fifteen years, the Uig Community Centre Association (UCCA) has been organising a Gala Day on Uig Sands in the first Saturday in July, to raise funds to build, extend and maintain Uig Community Centre, a much-used facility that serves as the hub of the community.  Over the years the Gala has grown to include a wide range of activites for all ages, and it's become a highlight of the summer for people from all over the island.

This year's Gala is organised by Tina Macritchie, Norrie Mackay, Peter Macdonald and Shona Mackenzie, with support and participation from many others throughout Uig. Volunteers are always needed to help with preparing the site, setting up, running stalls and activities, making and serving food, and clearing up.  Get in touch if you'd like to be involved.

Situated next to the school overlooking the sands of the Traigh Mhor and the hills of Uig, the Community Centre includes a games hall, catering kitchen, community-run tearoom, Uig Museum, the Croileagan, the Fire Station, a computer room, a gym and various offices.  As well as Gala Day, the committee run a number of meal and ceilidh nights through the year, well supported by the local community and visitors alike.  (Details are posted locally and on and Comann Eachdraidh Uig's Facebook page.)

The Hall is also available to let for wedding receptions and other events.
